My real estate adventures began here in West Marin during the ‘70s, when my rock and roll boyfriend asked me to handle his real estate transactions, as he was too busy writing songs. He’d give me power-of-attorney and trusted me completely. I never let him down. After leasing a home high on the Inverness Ridge, I sold his former home in Fairfax that had a recording studio in the detached garage — a primal scream therapist bought the place. Then, after dividing off three beautiful building parcels from his 21- acre estate in San Geronimo, I sold the home with its original 10 acres of walking trails to Gary Giacomini. Then, we bought and sold properties in L.A., London, Oxfordshire, Sausalito, two in San Francisco, and Mill Valley.
Later, I bought and sold a series of properties of my own, after making major improvements to the homes and gardens, in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Carmel Valley, Greenbrae Boardwalk, Woodacre, Mendocino and Pleasanton. This extensive home improvement work led me to obtain my General Building Contractors License, which I hold today, and will come in handy in building our own Green Home Project here in Point Reyes Station.
I finally got my real estate license in 1998 while residing in Mendocino and found it quite easy since I already had so much experience as a principal in real estate transactions. I knocked out a whole lot of transactions after re-locating to the suburbs of the East Bay to be near my elderly parents, but I can’t say that I enjoyed it very much. However, I did gain a lot of experience — selling every type of
residential real estate from luxury McMansions to country properties to raw land. I acquired my real estate broker’s license as part of my continuing education, and now I find practicing real estate a joy in this marvelous, beloved West Marin locale, with these wonderful local people, in my own non-corporate, caring manner. I love it.
